1. Do You Need a Visa?

Before you begin the application process, determine if you need a visa to enter Taiwan. Citizens of several countries may enter Taiwan visa-free for short stays, while others will need to apply for a visa in advance.

  • Visa-Free Entry: Citizens of countries with visa exemption agreements can enter Taiwan without a visa for stays up to 90 days. Check the official visa-exempt countries list (https://www.boca.gov.tw/cp-149-4486-7785a-2.html) to see if your country is included.
  • Visa Required: If your country is not on the visa-exempt list, you will need to apply for a visa before your arrival.

For conference attendees, the most common visa types is:

  • eVisa (Short-Term Stay): eVisa is only granted for tourism and business purposes, as well as for visiting relatives and attending international conferences or sporting events in Taiwan. eVisa is a single-entry visa, and the maximum duration of stay in Taiwan is 30 days, which cannot be extended and converted to other types of visas.
